Mario Ledesma

Mario Ledesma's remarkable durability at hooker saw him earn 84 test caps for Argentina between 1996 and 2011, appearing in four Rugby World Cups. He was a critical asset in Argentina's 2007 World Cup campaign, where they secured a third-place finish. Ledesma's exceptional lineout throwing accuracy and masterful scrummaging skills earned him the nickname "scrum doctor." Following his playing career, Ledesma transitioned into coaching, notably guiding Los Pumas to their first-ever victory over the All Blacks in November 2020. While his leadership and technical skills as a player were undeniable, his coaching tenure also faced scrutiny during periods of inconsistent team performance, leading to his resignation in February 2022.
