Lewis vs. Klitschko (2003)
The June 21, 2003, heavyweight clash between Lennox Lewis and Vitali Klitschko is remembered as a brutal and captivating contest. Lewis, then 37 years old, faced a significant challenge from the 31-year-old Klitschko, who appeared to be ahead on the scorecards before the fight was stopped. A severe cut above Klitschko's left eye, sustained from a Lewis uppercut, led to the ringside doctor advising a stoppage after the sixth round, despite Klitschko's protests and desire to continue. At the time of the stoppage, Klitschko was leading on all three judges' scorecards (58-56). Lewis ultimately retained his WBC, IBO, and The Ring heavyweight titles in what was his final professional fight.
