1X Technologies NEO is one of the first humanoid robots designed specifically for home environments, setting it apart from industrial-focused platforms like Figure 02 and Digit. Its soft body construction is built for safety around close interaction with children and the elderly. Pricing starts at $20,000 outright or $499 a month on subscription — one of the first real consumer business models built around a humanoid robot — with a 2026 release following preorders that opened in late 2025. For now, many of NEO's in-home tasks are carried out by remote human operators, with 1X using that data to train the robot toward greater autonomy over time. US home deployments are the initial focus, with international expansion to follow. Its limitations are the inverse of its strengths: a home-tuned, still-largely-teleoperated design isn't suited to automotive assembly, but for domestic use, NEO leads the field.
