Alpe d'Huez
Alpe d'Huez is renowned for its exceptional sunshine, often experiencing 300 days of sun annually. This characteristic has earned it the nickname "Island in the Sun," making it an appealing destination for those who enjoy bright, clear days on the slopes. The resort is also home to the Sarenne, widely recognized as the longest black run in Europe, a 16 km descent that drops 1,100 vertical meters. Additionally, the demanding Tunnel run, located at 3,330 meters, provides an exhilarating challenge for experienced skiers. The resort features 250 km of pistes, offering a wide range of terrain. While its lower glacier elevation of 3,330 meters can mean less reliable late-season snow compared to higher-altitude glaciers, Alpe d'Huez provides diverse expert terrain for advanced skiers.
