Left-Brain vs Right-Brain Learners

The popular notion of individuals being either 'left-brain logical' or 'right-brain creative' thinkers is a neurological myth. This concept was directly challenged by a comprehensive 2013 University of Utah fMRI study, which analyzed the brains of 1,011 individuals and found no evidence of meaningful hemispheric dominance in any participant. While different brain regions do specialize in certain functions, the idea that an entire hemisphere is consistently dominant in an individual's thinking style is unfounded. Adherence to this myth can lead to the misapplication of educational resources and potentially limit perceptions of a student's capabilities.
