Google Glass in Classrooms
Google Glass was introduced into classrooms with the anticipation that it would revolutionize student engagement and learning. However, pilot programs conducted in various schools soon uncovered significant limitations. Both teachers and students found the head-mounted devices to be distracting and socially awkward, largely due to their intrusive camera design. Crucially, the technology did not offer any discernible pedagogical advantage over existing educational tools, such as tablets, which were already in use. These programs were discontinued within months as schools concluded that the novelty of Google Glass did not translate into meaningful educational benefits, reinforcing that effective learning relies on proven pedagogical methods rather than solely on innovative hardware.
